The 2023 Subaru Outback is Better Than Ever

Buyers will get a more rugged, modern exterior styling with a larger grille, a new front bumper, revised headlights, and redesigned wheels with additional protective cladding. Cameras with a wider field of view improve the Outback's already great driver assistance features, thanks to EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, while wireless Android auto and Apple CarPlay are now standard. You'll get more protection, comfort and fun no matter which trim you buy.

Outback Trim Levels

The Outback has eight trim levels, an unusual characteristic for an SUV near Morrisville. Choose from the Base, Premium, Limited, Onyx Edition, Wilderness, Touring, Limited XT and Touring XT. All are available in a variety of exterior colors and interior options. The Onyx Edition gets additional updates with black finished alloy wheels and exterior accents, and STAR-TEX water-resistant upholstery.

Performance

Customers love the Outback's blend of performance and practicality. The standard 2.5-liter flat-four-cylinder engine produces 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER engine has 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Both pair with a Lineartronic CVT with an eight-speed manual mode function and steering wheel paddle shifters. All-wheel drive is also standard. The Outback's standard engine can tow 2,700 pounds around Raleigh while the upgraded engine can pull 3,500 pounds across Durham.

Tech Upgrades

The Base outback has a 7.0-inch infotainment screen, but all other trims feature the STARLINK 11.6-inch Multimedia System with a screen of the same size and improved touchscreen capability for various functions. It also is the first vehicle to use three-word communication for voice commands.
