The Subaru Ascent VS The Toyota Highlander

One of the top competitors for the Subaru Ascent is the Toyota Highlander. Both vehicles have seating for up to eight passengers, both vehicles come standard with the latest advanced safety features, and both vehicles have the ability to tow up to 5,000 lbs. But the Subaru Ascent is a superior family SUV than the Toyota Highlander for a number of reasons.

  • The Subaru Ascent comes standard with a number of performance features that the Toyota Highlander is only available with or doesn't offer. Every Ascent features X-Mode, Hill Descent Control, Trailer Stability Assist, Active Torque Vectoring, Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamics Control, and Subaru's legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for unmatched performance.
  • The Subaru Ascent has more advanced safety features than the Toyota Highlander. In addition to standard EyeSight the Ascent offers Morrisville with LED Steering Responsive, Reverse Automatic Braking, and Front View Camera. All of which aren't offer on the Highlander.
  • Another way that the Subaru Ascent bests the Toyota Highlander is with a more spacious interior and more maximum cargo space. The Highlander only has a passenger space of 144.9 cubic feet with 83.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. The Ascent, however, has a passenger space of 153.3 cubic feet and 86.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space.

The Subaru Ascent VS The Honda Pilot

Another top competitor of the 2019 Subaru Ascent that many Durham drivers may be considering is the Honda Pilot. But the Honda can't compare to the Subaru Ascent.

  • One of the first ways that the Ascent beats the Honda Pilot is standard safety. Every 2019 Subaru Ascent come equipped with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology that includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. The Honda Pilot is only available with some of the same features on more expensive trim levels.
  • The Honda Pilot is similar in size to the Subaru Ascent but isn't quite as spacious. Both vehicles have seating for up to eight but the Ascent offers more cargo space with all the seats up, 17.8 cubic feet. The Pilot only offers 16.5 cubic feet. The Ascent also offers more front headroom, front and rear legroom, and more maximum cargo space.
  • Another way the Subaru Ascent outshines the Honda Pilot is with better fuel efficiency. Every Ascent comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a 260 horsepower turbocharged BOXER engine and gets 21 city and 27 highway mpg. The Honda Pilot is powered by a V6 engine with available all-wheel-drive that only gets 18 city and 26 highway mpg.

The Subaru Ascent VS The Jeep Grand Cherokee

The last SUV we are comparing to the Subaru Ascent for Raleigh drivers is the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

  • Many families in the Cary area need an SUV with extra seats and extra space which only the Subaru Ascent has. The Jeep Grand Cherokee can only seat five passengers with 68.3 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. The Ascent is available with seating for seven or eight and has an impressive 86.5 cubic feet of maximum cargo space.
  • Standard safety appeals to many of our customers and the Subaru Ascent comes equipped with one of the highest rated advanced driver assist packages on the road. Subaru EyeSight equips every Ascent with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is only available with some of the same features for an additional cost on select trim levels.
  • The Jeep Grand Cherokee is known for off-road performance but the Subaru Ascent can hold its own with more standard performance features. Like standard X-Mode, Hill Descent Control, Trailer Stability Assist, Active Torque Vectoring, Traction Control System, Vehicle Dynamics Control, and Subaru's legendary Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The Jeep Grand Cherokee performance features will drive the price up very quickly making the Ascent a better buy for adventurous families.
