The Subaru Outback VS The Ford Edge

  • Don't be fooled that the Ford Edge is a more capable SUV with its 2.7 EcoBoost engine, which is only available on the most expensive trim level. The Edge and Outback are both capable of towing up to 3,500 lbs. and the 2.5L four-cylinder BOXER powered Outback's can tow up to 2,700 lbs. All other Edge trim levels can only tow 1,500 lbs.
  • Cary drivers want to get the most bang for their buck and the 2021 Subaru Outback has more to offer for significantly less. The Outback has a starting price that is almost $6,000 less than the Edge and comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with X-Mode, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and roof rails with built-in crossbars. Many of which are not offered on every Edge trim level or are available for an additional cost.
  • Life is full of big adventures and the Subaru Outback has more maximum cargo space for bigger adventures. The Ford Edge has 73.4 cubic feet of total cargo space while the Outback has 75.7 cubic feet.

  • When it comes to advanced safety features the Subaru Outback comes out on top with more standard and available features that Morrisville drivers are looking for. Like standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technology with Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. All of these features are only available on the Kia Sorento and the Sorento also doesn't offer LED Steering Responsive Headlights, Automatic Collision Notification or a distracted or drowsy mitigation system.
  • When it comes to going off-road on your weekend adventure the Outback is better equipped for everything you have in mind with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with X-Mode, Hill Descent Control, Active Torque Vectoring, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, roof rails with built-in crossbars, and 75.7 cubic feet of maximum cargo space. A less capable all-wheel-drive system is available on the Sorento for an additional cost and you will have only 7.3 inches of ground clearance. Roof rails and crossbars will cost extra too.
  • One more way that the 2021 Outback leaves the Kia Sorento behind is with more fuel-efficient performance. Both SUVs have two engine options to choose from. The Sorento with 2.4L four-cylinder with all-wheel-drive gets 21 city and 26 highway while the 3.3L V6 engine with all-wheel-drive gets 2019 city and 24 highway. The Outback with the 2.5L four-cylinder BOXER with Auto Stop-Start technology has a fuel economy rating of 26 highway and 33 highway and the 2.4L turbo BOXER gets 23 city and 30 highway mpg.
