Explore the Subaru Safety Scores
Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts a series of crash tests on all vehicles and gives them a rating based on their performance. For the 2019 model year, the following Subaru models earned the highest possible ratings for front crash prevention from the IIHS:
- Subaru Ascent
- Subaru Crosstrek
- Subaru Impreza
- Subaru Forester
- Subaru Legacy
- Subaru Outback
- Subaru WRX
Thanks to systems like EyeSight® and other active and passive safety features built into the body of every Subaru model, these models performed exceedingly well in crash tests. It's been determined that in rear-end crashes, EyeSight® reduces the rate of injures by up to 85-percent.

So, what exactly is this safety technology that makes Subaru models so safe? EyeSight® driver's assistance combines smart features to keep an eye out for fellow vehicles on the roads and react fast when you're not able to. These four features include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control: Choose your top speed and how far you'd like to stay away from cars in front of you, and your Subaru will automatically slow and speed up according to your settings.
- Pre-Collision Braking: Reduce the impact of a frontal collision with this system, which automatically applies brake force when you don't have time to react.
- Pre-Collision Throttle Management: If your vehicle detects a potential obstacle in your way, it will reduce your engine's power to minimize the damage should the collision occur.
- Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning: Your Subaru will sense if you drift from your lane, and gently nudge you back into place if you do so.
All of these systems come standard on the 2020 Forester, Outback, Legacy, and Ascent models, and are available on all of the 2020 Impreza, Crosstrek, and WRX models.
